Developments on campus are moving at a rapid pace. To enable further growth, a Bright House (offices and laboratories) and a Bright Village (workshops) are being added behind the Innovatoren. The new buildings are intended for start-ups, entrepreneurs, knowledge institutions and research institutes. Most of the buildings will be up by next year.

CEO Saskia Goetgeluk of Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo is pleased: "This gives a huge boost to the innovative power and cooperation in the projects and programs in the fields of healthy and safe food, future farming and vio-circular economy." "The expansion of the campus is of unprecedented importance for our region," said Venlo City Councilman Erwin Boom.

Network campus

Now 60 organizations and 16 R&D facilities are located on the campus, with a total of 650 employees and 400 students. "In addition to 'network campus,' the campus increasingly fulfills a facilitating and connecting role for SMEs," Mackus says. The existing buildings Villa Flora and Innovatoren are nearly full. Delegate Mackus: "The developments are going faster than expected. In 2017 we expressed the ambition to grow the campus into a 'place to be'. We are on the right track."
